Yolanda Banks McCoy joined HighWater Limited (HighWater) in September 2014. HighWater was established in January 2007 and is currently licensed by the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority to carry on the business of company management. HighWater’s core business is the provision of independent directors and related services to the alternative investment industry.

Yolanda has over 25 years of financial services experience and prior to joining HighWater in 2014, was Head of the Investments & Securities Division (ISD) at the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority (CIMA), since November 2006. In this capacity, Yolanda was responsible for effective regulation and supervision of hedge funds, fund administrators and securities investment companies operating in or from the Cayman Islands as well as ensuring their compliance and sound conduct in accordance with Cayman Islands regulatory acts, regulations and CIMA’s policies and procedures. As Head of ISD, Yolanda was instrumental with the formation of the Directors Registration and Licensing Act, which today, is the foundation of corporate governance in the funds industry in the Cayman Islands. In her role as Head, Yolanda often assisted with providing advice and guidance to the Authority’s Board of Directors and the industry on developments within the alternative investment industry. Yolanda worked extensively with international practitioners, global regulators, service providers and allocators to strengthen the regulatory framework of the Cayman Islands’ alternative investment industry and regularly represented the Authority and the Cayman Islands at various forums, conferences and Working Groups.

Yolanda serves as an independent director on a number of hedge fund boards and other related structures and has extensive experience with corporate governance, regulatory and compliance matters on a broad range of hedge fund strategies.

Yolanda holds a MBA with distinction in Banking and Finance from the University of Wales, Bangor, and a Bachelor of Science in International Business from the University of Tampa, Florida.

She is currently the Co-Chair of the Educational Committee and past Chair of Social & Events on AIMA Cayman Chapter, a member of the Board of Trustees of the International College of the Cayman Islands, Chair of the European International Relations Working Group of Cayman Finance and past Co-Chair of 100 Women in Finance Education Committee.
