Head of Tax | KPMG
David is the Head of Tax with KPMG in the Cayman Islands and has over twenty-three years of U.S. tax experience.
David’s current responsibilities includes the provision of U.S. tax compliance and advisory services for alternative investment fund clients and insurance companies, as well as regulatory assistance including AEOI, CBCR and Economic Substance to Cayman financial institutions and subsidiaries of multi-national groups.
David advises on a wide range of partnership and corporate international tax issues including private equity fund reporting, check the box elections and other tax structuring considerations, as well as PFIC analysis and reporting. David also provides tax advisory services involving U.S. activities such as review of permanent establishment and U.S. trade or business rules for foreign entities with U.S. activities, and Subpart F considerations for Controlled Foreign Corporations.
Additionally, he is the leader of KPMG Cayman Islands FATCA/CRS team and works closely with KPMG’s Global FATCA/CRS team on engagements for clients based in the Cayman Islands and the British Virgin Islands. David was also part of an industry group working with the Cayman government on the economic substance law and related guidance.
Prior to joining KPMG Cayman Islands David spent eleven years with the KPMG’s U.S. tax team in Vancouver, Canada providing U.S. tax services to both private and public companies with a focus on technology and real estate businesses.
